Who We Are
On a sunny Saturday in May 2011, I set up a popsicle stand in my Toronto neighbourhood, Roncesvalles, for our annual community yard sale. An overwhelming hit, Augie’s Ice Pops was born and was soon to become a favourite at Toronto Farmers’ Markets and Fine Food stores across the GTA and Ontario.
My background working with some of Toronto’s finest restauranteurs and chefs (George, Mildred Pierce, Jamie Kennedy, Pangaea etc) taught me the finer aspects of hospitality and creating fresh, dynamic and killer flavours that people love. We put that into every pop made in our commercial kitchen in Toronto’s west end. We start with fresh juice (local as well as tropical), citrus, zest, herbs, then add love and a pinch of pure organic cane sugar (or honey/maple syrup). We also have sugar-free (no sugar added) options.
Cultivating relationships with farmers and social agencies while using their local produce has also been one of the great joys of Augie’s.
We are delighted to be sold year round by some of the finest food retailers in Canada: Whole Foods Markets, Pusateri’s (and at The Saks Fifth Ave store!!), Summerhill Market, Fresh + Wild, The Big Carrot, Fiesta Farms and dozens of small innovative bakeries, cafes and retailers across Ontario (in the summer months–see our home page for details where)– We are adding stores monthly. PS: I almost forgot the most important thing….Augie!!! Augie is our golden retriever who
gives and gets a lot of love!! Eliot, our cat, was not as impressed with our decision to
name the company after him. We don’t talk about it around the house :).
